A 19-year-old man, who was detained at the scene by bar staff, has been arrested in connection with his death. A clergyman who spent much of Friday with Mr Montgomery's family said they were distraught.
A post mortem examination is to be carried out on the dead man's body later on Friday. Reverend Simon Dougan said: "All the cliches apply - he was a young man with his whole life in front of him."
He added: "As I drove his parents back home from the city mortuary today, we turned on the 12 o'clock news and heard the report.
"It was as though it was happening to some other family, it was as though it wasn't their boy we'd just seen."
