Family of man killed by police wants investigation reopened in Philadelphia
Version 0 of 1. The family of a man fatally shot by Philadelphia police is calling on the city’s top prosecutor to reopen the investigation after police admitted their original narrative was false. Brandon Tate-Brown’s family said they want district attorney Seth Williams to consider new evidence that contradicts claims he was reaching into a car for a loaded pistol. Also on Monday, they asked for the rookie officers involved in December’s shooing to be reassigned to desk duty. The city last week released surveillance videos and interviews showing 26-year-old Tate-Brown running around the back of his car when Officer Nicholas Carrelli fired. Tate-Brown’s family is suing the city. They say he was running away from a police beating after being stopped because his car didn’t have headlights on. Williams’ office didn’t immediately comment. Police didn’t immediately return a message. |
