Woman charged with Maidstone pensioner's murder

A woman has been charged with murder after the body of a 69-year-old man was found at a flat in Kent.

Police were called on Monday to a flat in Rocky Hill Terrace, Maidstone, after receiving a report that the body of John Birney had been discovered.

Allison Tomlin, 48, of no fixed address, was charged with his murder on Saturday.

She has been remanded in custody and will appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday.
