The RNLI is hoping to remove the stricken Portrush lifeboat from the rocks at Rathlin Island on Friday.

The Katie Hannan was forced onto the rocks by a heavy swell while attempting to rescue three people whose boat was in danger on 29 January.

The £2m lifeboat was drained of fuel to prevent possible pollution and stripped of equipment to await the arrival of a salvage barge from Liverpool.

A new lifeboat has taken its place in Portrush.

The North Antrim assembly member, Ian Paisley Jr, has called for an inquiry into the grounding.
