Almost half of Scotland's local authorities are meeting later to vote on plans to freeze council tax rates at last year's levels. Councils across Scotland have been meeting to set their council tax bills for the coming year.

Some councils, such as Glasgow, Edinburgh and Falkirk, have already confirmed a freeze on charges. Some councils approved their budgets earlier this week, with the majority holding their meetings on Thursday.
A number of councils will not set their budgets until near the end of February. The remaining councils will set their bills next week. All are expected to confirm a council tax freeze.
Though council tax bills will remain the same, the water charge, which is also included on the same bill, will rise. Glasgow, Falkirk and Shetland were among the councils which met earlier this week to approve their budgets.
Those who confirmed a council tax freeze on Thursday included Scottish Borders, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Orkney, East Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire.

Although council tax bills will remain the same, the water charge, which is also included on the same bill, will rise.
