Letter: Richard Johnson was held in high esteem in Romania Letter: Richard Johnson was held in high esteem in Romania
(35 minutes later)
Richard Johnson was held in high esteem in Romania. In the hugely popular Romanian historical epic Columna (1968), directed by Mircea Drăgăn, he played Tiberius, a heroic Roman officer who attempts to unite the conquerors with the local Dacian people and create what will become the Romanian nation. His last film, Radiator, was shown at the Transilvania International Film festival in Cluj last week, and Richard had been set to receive a lifetime achievement award. Radiator’s director Tom Browne accepted it in his honour. Richard Johnson was held in high esteem in Romania.
