Detectives investigating the death of a woman whose torso was found in a suitcase are searching for missing body parts.

A 57-year-old man, understood to be Vitautas Jokubauskas, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the discovery in a house in Peterborough on Friday. He remains in custody.

Officers were called to a property just after 12.30pm on Friday, when the body was discovered in a suitcase. A postmortem examination on the body of the victim, which was missing its head, arms and legs, has begun at Peterborough City hospital.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “Forensic examination of the property is continuing today. Detectives are still making inquiries to positively identify the victim and find the missing body parts. The murder is being treated as an isolated incident and a dedicated team has been set up to investigate.”
