Marston Green murder inquiry: Anne Dunkley 'died of head injuries'

A woman found seriously injured at a house in the West Midlands died of head injuries, police have said.

Churchwarden Anne Dunkley, 67, was found on the floor of the property in Elmdon Road, Marston Green, on Friday. She died later in hospital.

A post-mortem examination showed she sustained multiple injuries.

A man, aged 38, who suffered facial injuries, has since been released from hospital. A 24-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder.

Reverend Penny Harrison, from St Leonard's Church in the village, said Mrs Dunkley had been a churchwarden there for seven years.

"This is a huge shock for us all," she said.

"Anne was a churchwarden for seven years and served the church and community tirelessly, with great humour and seemingly boundless energy.

"Anne is a great loss to everyone but most especially to her family."
