Boy band star on assault charge

Former boy band singer Lee Ryan has been charged with an attack on a taxi driver in Surrey.

The 24-year-old ex-member of the band Blue is accused of assaulting the man following a minor traffic accident in Oxted on New Year's Eve.

Surrey Police said he had been charged with common assault after answering bail at Reigate police station.

A police spokeswoman said he was due to appear before magistrates in Redhill on 29 February.
