Body discovered on railway line Woman killed by rush hour train
(about 3 hours later)
A body has been found on a railway line in north Kent. A woman has died after she was hit by a train in north Kent.
British Transport Police said the body was found at Longfield after officers received a telephone call just after 0700 GMT. British Transport Police said the emergency services were called to the incident between Longfield and Meopham just after 0700 GMT.
SouthEastern train services running through Meopham station have been cancelled to allow investigations at the scene. A spokesman said the death was being treated as unexplained. No more details about the woman have been released.
It is not known whether the body is that of a man or woman, or how it came to be on the railway track. The Southeastern train involved was the 0616 from London Victoria to Ramsgate, which led to the disruption of services between Rochester and Swanley.
