Maryland woman dies after receiving butt-enlargement injection from unlicensed doctor
Version 0 of 1. A Maryland woman died after receiving silicone buttocks injections in the basement apartment of a residential building in the New York City borough of Queens, according to media reports. Kelly Mayhew received the injections on Saturday from an apparently unlicensed doctor. New York police say there is no indication that the woman who administered the injection had any certification. Ms Mayhew’s mother told investigators that her daughter started having trouble breathing shortly after the injection, at which point the “doctor” fled. Ms Mayhew was taken to the hospital where she later died. Police are still looking for the woman who gave the shot, though the cause of death is pending. Ms Mayhew was an employee of BET Networks, which issued a statement on Tuesday. “We are saddened by the death of our colleague and friend, Kelly Mayhew. Our hearts go out to her family and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss.” Last year a woman died in a similar procedure in a Manhattan hotel. The suspect in that case was charged with second-degree manslaughter and first-degree assault.
