The revealing dresses chosen by Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon for the final of Britain’s Got Talent have provoked almost 200 complaints from viewers unhappy with the amount of flesh on show.

Both judges opted for plunging necklines, which left viewers complaining about the amount of cleavage for a family show that started before the 9pm watershed.

Holden tweeted that her dress was inspired by the films Frozen and Cinderella.

Media regulator Ofcom has received 90 complaints about Holden and Dixon’s outfits, while 100 have voiced concern to ITV.

“Ofcom has received 90 complaints about the presenters’ clothing on Britain’s Got Talent on ITV,” said a spokesman. “We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not.”

In January, singer Rita Ora’s choice of a similarly flesh-baring white blazer on BBC’s The One Show prompted more than 400 complaints to the corporation and 28 to Ofcom.

Nearly 12 million viewers watched Jules O’Dwyer and her dog Matisse win BGT – with the help of a three-legged canine sidekick – a million more than tuned in last year.

The duo will perform in this year’s royal variety performance and take home a cash prize of £250,000.
