A man who had been sleeping rough has been found murdered in the street two days before he was due to move into a new home.

Gary Turner, 43, was found lying in Stratford, east London, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He had died of head and abdominal injuries and detectives believe he had been attacked by three men.

Mr Turner had been sleeping rough in, but was due to move into a flat on Monday, a police spokesman said.

Police believe he had been assaulted by two white men and one black man just an hour before he was found by a passer-by at 0620 BST.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said detectives were keeping an open mind on the possible motive for the killing and whether Mr Turner knew his attackers.

Police say a number of passengers on the 158 bus had got off at The Grove about the same time the attack happened and they are appealing for them to come forward.
