Man remanded on bomb hoax charge

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with making a false bomb threat.

Wayne Wright, 43, was shot with a baton round by police on Ouse Bridge in York on Sunday night. He allegedly claimed to have explosives in his rucksack.

He was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

Mr Wright, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody by York magistrates until 19 February. There was no application for bail.
