Scotland Yard gang crime unit launches investigation into shooting 'very close' to children's play area
Version 0 of 1. The Metropolitan Police’s gang crime unit has launched an investigation into a shooting that took place close to a play area in London. Officers were called to Heron Close in Willesden, north-west London at 3pm on Wednesday after a 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg. He is in a serious but stable condition. Police believe more than one shot may have been fired. No arrests have been made and enquiries are on-going. Officers from Trident and Area Crime Command are urging witnesses or anyone with information pertaining to the incident to contact police. Detective Sergeant Jez Dargan said: "The shooting took place in a residential estate in the middle of the afternoon. “The local schools are currently on half term and this shooting occurred very close to a children's play area.
