Lyace Ali and Kameron Shabir were on a bank holiday trip with a business partner. Maltese police say the men got into difficulties while swimming at the Blue Lagoon, in Comino. One of them was airlifted to hospital while the other was taken by boat. A third man, Hussein Ahmed, also got into trouble in the water but survived. The three men were partners in a dental practice in Sheldon, and Dr Ali also owned two in Scotland. Qumar Zamen, whose hardware shop is opposite the Birmingham practice, said the men were popular in the area. "Everybody knew them, and they were well-liked as well. It is very sad. They will be missed here," Mr Zamen said. Dr Ali lived in Solihull with his wife and three young children. |
