Girl, 15, hurt in Flamingo Land rollercoaster accident

A 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being injured by a loose rollercoaster part at Flamingo Land.

The incident at the North Yorkshire theme park on Friday saw two people struck by a foot rail, which came off a moving carriage on the Hero Ride.

A 26-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the park and the teenager was taken to Scarborough General.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and North Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident.

Hero is one of the park's newest attractions, having opened in July 2013.
