Version 0 of 1.

A man has been interviewed by the RSPCA after 73 sheep were found dead at a farm in County Durham.

Animal inspectors arrived at the farm in Baldersdale, near Barnard Castle, after a call from a member of the public on Thursday.

The inspectors, Durham Police and a vet found the bodies of 54 dead sheep scattered across three fields.

When they returned on Friday a further 19 carcasses were found in the same area. The man was questioned on Monday.

One sheep was put to sleep on veterinary advice while another live sheep was removed by RSPCA inspectors for examination.

About 130 live sheep remain at the location but they have been moved to separate fields.

The RSPCA has been advised by vets who examined the sheep that no infectious diseases were found at the location.
