Man dies after being hit by car

A pedestrian has died of his injuries after being hit by a car, police have confirmed.

The 20-year-old man was struck as he walked westwards on the A71 Edinburgh to Kilmarnock road in West Lothian.

The road was closed for about four hours following the incident at about 2300 GMT on Saturday.

Lothian and Borders police said the driver of the Peugeot car was taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston, suffering from shock.
