The search for a fisherman missing off the coast of North Somerset has been scaled down.

Alan Wright, who is 26, is believed to have been washed into the sea at Birnbeck Pier in Weston-super-Mare, on Thursday 7 February.

Coastguards said "a limited search" of the area has been resumed.

Emergency services started searching the Bristol Channel when two people reported seeing a man swept off the causeway at Birnbeck Pier.

Coastguards from Clevedon and Weston searched the shore while two lifeboats and two helicopters assisted.

Police said Mr Wright has a green Celtic band tattoo on his upper right arm and was wearing black jeans and a long dark coloured jacket.
