Police seek men who racially abused travellers who intervened after they insulted female passenger

Two men are being sought by police after a woman was verbally abused on board a London train and fellow passengers subjected to racial and physical abuse when they came to her defence. The incident is thought to have occurred between West Brompton and Shepherds Bush, shortly after 10pm on Sunday 3 May when three men boarded an Overground train. A British Transport Police spokesperson told The Independent that a 22-year-old man from Harrow had been arrested on suspicion of common assault. He has been bailed until 27 May. A group of men are believed to have been behaving rowdily on the service when they verbally assaulted a female passenger. When other passengers attempted to defend the unidentified woman they were assaulted. It is also thought that members of the group used racist language towards an unidentified man on the train at the time. BTP officer have also released an image of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the event. Sergeant Tulin Akdam said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident.
