The remains of Polish national Marta Ligman, 23, were discovered near Delamere Terrace in Little Venice, west London, on Sunday. Thomasz Kocik, 38, was remanded in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday. Two other men, aged 34 and 30, who were arrested at separate addresses on Monday have been bailed. Initial post-mortem tests proved "inconclusive" and further tests are required, Met Police detectives have said. Ms Ligman was living Buckingham Road in Brent, north-west London, as was Mr Kocik. Det Ch Insp Simon Ashwin said the force believed the suitcase containing the body had been placed in the canal in the past two weeks. "Whilst the body was recovered near to Little Venice it is highly likely that she entered the water further along the canal," he said. He said the force was "following a number of lines of inquiry". |
