River death boy named as Joshua Hazelby-Fear

A seven-year-old boy who died after falling into a river near Merthyr Tydfil while throwing rocks with friends has been named. Police said Joshua Hazelby-Fear, from Treharris, fell into the River Taff at Quaker's Yard on Sunday. Officers said he was pulled from the water by emergency services who treated him at the scene. He was airlifted to hospital but later died. Police said they were treating his death as a tragic accident. Tributes have been left at the scene for the youngster, including one which read: "R.I.P little man. Sleep tight with angels above, you are already missed by so many." Treharris councillor Richard Thomas said: "The loss of any young person under these circumstances is a tragedy and will be felt by the community." |
