Jurors heard he had probably slept with one other girl before his arrest on 19 December 2006. Cross-examining, prosecutor Mr Wright asked the defendant why the defendant continued to use the services of street prostitutes despite a police presence in Ipswich.
Mr Wright's DNA was found on three of the women's bodies. Blood from two of the women was found on one of his coats and fibres from his home or car were found on all five. Mr Wright answered: "I just had, at the back of my mind, it wouldn't affect me because I wasn't responsible for the deaths."
The trial continues. The prosecutor said: "The fact is, there are a number of coincidences in this case, aren't there Mr Wright?
"The fact is you murdered each of these women."
Mr Wright replied: "No, I did not."
The trial was adjourned until Tuesday.
