Essex Police treat Chelmsford car crash as murder

Police are treating a collision involving a pedestrian in his 60s and a Mercedes Benz car as murder.

The male victim was declared dead in Osea Way in Chelmsford after he was hit by a car driven by a 63-year-old on Saturday at 20:30 BST.

The driver, who is from Chelmsford, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The scene remains cordoned off while forensics officers examine the area. Essex Police has appealed for witnesses.

A spokeswoman for Essex Police said it was not yet known whether the pedestrian was in the road or on the footpath when he was fatally injured.
