Climber dies after cliff fall on Devon and Cornwall border

The man, 34, fell from cliffs at Marsland Mouth, near Bude, at about 18:20 BST on Saturday, Devon and Cornwall Police said. He was airlifted by a rescue helicopter from RMB Chivenor to the North Devon District Hospital where he died from his injuries. The man had been climbing with friends. Police are not treating his death as suspicious and his next of kin have been told. A local climber who has scaled the cliffs at Gull Rock and Marsland Mouth told BBC News that it "was quite crumbly and unstable" and it was a site for "quite experienced climbers". |
