Militants in Iraq carried out a series of suicide attacks on Friday, hitting Shiite mosques in the country’s northeast and killing at least 22 worshipers, officials said. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombings but they bore the hallmarks of the Islamic State extremist group, which has carried out near-daily attacks against Shiites, Iraqi officials and the security forces.
