The Taiwanese TV coverage of the UK general election is better than all of the British combined
Version 0 of 1. Forget swingometers and stock images of ballot boxes, Taiwan has already won the battle for 2015 UK general election coverage, with an animation involving unicorns, a baby Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband in a unitard. The video imagines Miliband and Cameron as marathon runners, with Nick Clegg accompanying them in a pram and the SNP putting up obstacles, joined by William Wallace who for some reason rides a unicorn. Nigel Farage pilots a gunship meanwhile, later bending Cameron over a roulette table in a vaguely homoerotic scene. Looking very much like a Sims cutscene, the video's finest moment is Miliband collapsed under his controversial stone tablet swiping Nick Clegg right on Tinder. Discussing the possibility of a hung parliament, Taiwan-based TomoNews employs the woefully underused term 'electile dysfunction'. For more Asian animation-based Ed Miliband fun (yes, I have some), please see this app that let's you turn him into a sassy poledancer. Britain heads to the polling booths today, in an election so tight that it is expected to see a turnout of up to 70%, with one in four voters believed to still be undecided on who they want to run the country. |
