Watch determined female soldier complete exhausting 13-mile march despite collapsing 20m from finish line

After a 12-mile road march carrying a 70lbs backpack, exhausted Army Capt Sarah Cudd was 20 metres from the finish line when her legs gave way and she fell to the ground. Unable to get back to her feet, it seemed as if Cudd would be unable to complete the last few steps that would take her to the end. However, with the cries of support from fellow officers and using her gun to prop herself up the determined officer was able drag herself across the remaining few metres before collapsing in a heap. The entire incident was recorded by one of Cudd's colleagues and has gone viral since being uploaded in 1 May. After being posted on the Army Public Health Command’s (APHC) Facebook page, the video which was filmed on the on 27 April has been shared over 1million times. According to the APHC, the march was the last task in a series of rigorous tests needed to be completed by Cudd so that she could earn her Army’s Expert Field Medical Badge. The test is one of the most challenging in the US Army, with less than 25 per cent of people that enter expected to pass. |
