Snoop Dogg is a 'dope-smoking cop hater', says Texas law chief
Version 0 of 1. Snoop Dogg is nothing but a “dope-smoking cop hater”, according to the head of statewide law enforcement in Texas. That judgement came from Steven McCraw, the director of the state’s Department of Public Safety (DPS), in internal emails discussing the case of the state trooper who posed for a photo with the rapper. Trooper Billy Spears accepted Snoop’s request for a photo while working on security during an off-duty stint at the South by South West festival in March. The rapper posted the photo to Instagram with the caption “Me n my deputy dogg”. Because Snoop has several convictions for possession of drugs, Spears was reprimanded and ordered to undergo counselling. He has now filed a lawsuit against the DPS, alleging retaliation against McCraw and other DPS executives. McCraw’s remark came to light after Spears’s lawyer obtained DPS emails through open-records laws, Billboard reports. McCraw wrote of Spears: “Apparently he would rather work the convention while on a week’s vacation to earn additional money rather than take an additional tour on the border [the DPS is in charge of policing the border with Mexico]. He must not understand that he was being lampooned by a dope-smoking cop hater, which reflects very poorly on the department.” The emails also include one from a DPS supervisor noting that troopers have often had their pictures taken with celebrities while working at SXSW. |
