Spanish federation to suspend all domestic competition over TV rights

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) has decided to suspend indefinitely all domestic competition from 16 May over a spat with the government on issues including a new law on collective bargaining for television rights.
This could be because it launched early, our rights have expired, there was a legal issue, or for another reason.
“At the same time, and yet again, we reiterate the offer of dialogue to the Spanish government,” the federation said on its website after a board meeting on Wednesday.
The move follows a new Spanish law governing the sale of television rights to broadcast football matches and the distribution of the income, which was approved by the government on 30 April and requires a more even distribution in TV money between the clubs. The final two matchdays in La Liga would both be affected unless agreement can be reached.
