Version 0 of 1.

I note the absence of any proposals to help children with special educational needs in every one of the party manifestos (Report, 6 April). So will the parents of the one-in-five children who have some form of additional need. That’s a lot of votes.Bernadette JohnSEN director, The Good Schools Guide

• The present chief secretary to the Treasury (Letters, 4 May) will leave two envelopes: one, addressed to “The poor, disabled, and savers”, will contain a note saying “Thanks for all your dosh”; and a second, addressed to “The rich”, simply stuffed with banknotes.Richard GilyeadSaffron Walden, Essex

• If the Scots have become politically savvy and enthused, putting the rest of us to shame for our apathy and ignorance, then we can only hope they have noticed where the Murdoch newspapers are trying to lead them (‘Two-faced’ Sun attacked for backing SNP in Scotland and Tories elsewhere, 1 May). Surely, the Scots can have no trust or respect for the chief cheerleader for the poll tax party. This two-way slam is revenge on the Labour leader’s attack on the corrupt press.Eddie PrevostHarlow, Essex

• Boris Johnson’s appeal for “moderate, sensible … Blairite Guardian readers” (Report, 6 May) confirms that he is not a reader of this page.Les BrightExeter, Devon

• In this week of election brouhaha, what a pleasure it was to watch Tuesday’s two-hour BBC4 film in real time of the Kennet and Avon canal trip, unscripted except by bird song. Bliss. Don’t miss it.Lin SpoorAmersham, Buckinghamshire
