A large gorse fire close to homes in Carmarthenshire which led to a road being closed has been put out.

The A484 Gwscwm Road in Burry Port, Llanelli, was shut for around three hours while five fire crews battled the blaze on the Graig mountain.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said 7 hectares (17 acres) of undergrowth was affected.

Dave Barkley, of Ace Garage in Gwscwm Road, said: "From the garage we could hear the timber of the trees cracking."

He added: "There's been quite a lot of smoke."
