Police are still searching for West Australian woman Jennie Anne Kehlet, who disappeared along with her husband on a prospecting trip near Sandstone, about 720km from Perth.

Raymond Keith Kehlet has since been confirmed dead but there has been no sign of 49-year-old Jennie.

The couple were reported missing on 31 March, three days after their great dane raised the alarm by wandering unattended into the Sandstone Caravan Park.

They had been camping about 30km out of the town since 19 March and were last seen on 22 March.

Police say there is no suggestion that 47-year-old Raymond, whose remains were found at the bottom of a 12-metre deep mine shaft less than 2km from the campsite, eight days into the search, had met with foul play.

At a press conference on Monday, Detective Superintendent Anthony Lee, from the major crime unit, said the missing Jennie was likely to have been carrying prospecting equipment when she set out and could have dropped those items as she walked.

The equipment is believed to be a metal detector coil, a chain and rope, a Garmin Etrex GPS and a Garrett ATX metal detector.

“If you have been in this area and located any items of a similar description we urge you to contact police so the items can be assessed,” a WA police statement said.

“In the event members of the public travel to the area and locate similar items they should record the GPS location and contact police immediately.”

Police say the incident is a reminder that remote WA is a “very harsh and unforgiving environment” and urged anyone travelling in outback WA to plan ahead and equip themselves for the conditions.
