Scottish National Party manifesto: key policies explained in a minute

The Scottish National Party have launched their manifesto for the 2015 General Election, setting out the pledges they intend to campaign for should they win the race to influence Number 10. Under the leadership of Nicola Sturgeon the SNP is pledge to increase spending by 0.5 per cent annually – enabling £140 billion of extra investment. As well as abolishing the bedroom tax, the SNP backs plans to invest in 100,000 affordable homes built in the UK. Mrs Sturgeon also wants to restore the 50p income tax rate for those earning more than £150,000. The SNP are keen to wind down Trident, but would spend a large percentage of the defence procurement in Scotland. Finally, they would oppose a referendum on membership of the EU and campaign for more offshore wind farms. See the party’s most crucial pledges below |
