A new business that specialises in helping bereaved families get rid of deceased relatives' old pornography has been set up in London.

Webuyanyporn.com was the brainchild of the owners of Ram Books, a porn shop on Holloway Road, north London, and was initially set up to bring more stock into the shop.

But after the owner, 55-year old Dave, was inundated with calls from bereaved families eager to get rid of deceased relatives' porn collections, he decided to specialise in this service.

Speaking to the Islington Gazette, Dave said: "It was started to collect more stock but now I'm getting lots of calls from people with old porn that they don't know how to get rid of.

"They call and say 'my grandfather has just died, my dad's just died, my uncle's just died - and I've found all these old magazines."

Families worried about their relatives' collections falling into the wrong hands often request that the magazines get destroyed - and Dave can help them, with the Islington shop boasting an on-site shredder.

Webuyanyporn has found an unlikely market in the families of the deceased who want to get rid of their relatives' old porn Webuyanyporn.com will also buy any old pornographic magazines, videos (in any format from betamax to blu-ray), photos, and much more.

Dave said: "We give a fair price for everything. Everybody I've purchased books and magazines off goes away very happy."

Dave ran a sex shop in Holloway Road for 30 years, and his network of contacts in the adult industry ensures he can always find buyers for his stock.

With rare vintage porn magazines fetching up to £90 on Ebay, a big collection may include some valuable gems.

Dave said: "I've probably got stock from every era of porn from the '50s upwards. Some of the Harrison Marks (a famous British glamour photographer) stuff can fetch about £50 for one magazine."

Happy to purchase anything, from a few video tapes found in an attic, to entire collections of vintage magazines, the website says they are discreet, prompt and approachable.

Webuyanyporn, which was started nine months ago, will even buy home movies, regardless of whether it's on "cine film, video or DVD".

Naturally, there are some things that webuyanyporn won't go near, with the website claiming: "We buy anything that's legal - we don't buy the nasty stuff, or sell it."

Webuyanyporn is a separate business from Ram Books, which operates a closed door policy.
