Ed Miliband inspires One Direction-style teenage crushes as 'Milifandom' takes off
Version 0 of 1. Ed Miliband has had an incredible 11th-hour surge in popularity ahead of the General Election - it's a shame that not many of his new fans are actually of voting age. The Labour leader - who has until recently suffered from a nerdy, wonk-ish image - has won over the hearts and minds of teenage girls across the country. Led by a 17-year-old called Abby, Miliband's army of young followers believe that he has been unfairly portrayed by the media: I'm just an exam stressed 17 year old who loves Tom Hiddleston and thinks the media is unfair to Ed, just wanted to change that. Just trying to change my country for the better - As I'm 17 and I can't vote, I had to do something! #milifandom She also had a pithy message for the haters: All these tories tweeting me shade about ed hon ur just jealous Miliband himself tweeted her a message of support, but has yet to comment on the fandom, beyond gasping when The Independent showed him a picture of himself mocked up as a topless Poldark. @twcuddleston It’s good to hear young people who care about politics speaking up for the things they believe in. @twcuddleston There’s a lot at stake at this election for young people. I hope more young people will join you & get involved. #VoteLabour But Abby's far from alone in her love of the Labour leader: Thinking about ed miliband pic.twitter.com/u0dcjb2qt8
I fancy Ed Miliband AND his politics! Hooray! I'm not going to lie, I used to properly fancy Ed Miliband when I was at school and hyperventilated when I first met him #milifandom
