Dashcam footage shows Texas police save unconscious man from burning car in breath-taking rescue

This is the moment an unconscious driver in Texas was saved from being burned alive by police officers after they pulled him from his car moments before it became completely engulfed in flames. The dashcam footage taken from the car of Mesquite police officers Ryan Nielson and Autumn Soto on Sunday morning shows Hector Valles being pulled from his SUV as he lay unresponsive and trapped inside the burning vehicle. The officers were responding to a report from a fellow motorist that a crash had occurred on the Interstate 30 near Dallas after Valles had swerved through a steel pillar and onto an adjacent service road. In the video, the two officers are seen rushing from their patrol car and to the SUV, despite flames already coming from the vehicle’s bonnet. It soon becomes clear that Valles is not conscious and Nielson is forced to smash one of the vehicle’s windows before dragging Valles, with the help of bystanders, to safety. Nielson and Soto can be heard shouting “Stay with us” and “You are going to be ok”, as Valles begins to regain consciousness. Ambulances eventually arrived at the scene and Valles was transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where he is still in intensive care being treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Valles mother Olivia Valles thanked the bravery of the officers and said it looked as if her son would pull through. She told Fox4 News: “We would like to thank the Mesquite police officers and witnesses whose heroic efforts saved our son,' Olivia Valles said in a statement. 'Hector is strong. He is a fighter. We are thankful to the Lord that he is here, he is recovering and is in good hands.” Police said that an investigation was now underway to try and find out what had caused Valles to swerve off road. |
