M25 Cobham Services forced to shut by KFC fire
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-32348057 Version 0 of 1. Parts of a service area on the M25 in Surrey remain closed after a fire at a KFC restaurant. Eight fire engines and three other vehicles were sent to Cobham Services at 07:30 BST, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said. No casualties were reported and the fire was later brought under control, Extra Motorway Service Area Group said. The HGV parking area, filling station and forecourt have now reopened, Cobham Services said. All other parts of the motorway service station will remain closed until a full site safety investigation has been carried out. In a statement, Cobham Services said: "Following the fire and the commendable work of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, the situation has been contained. "We will be working hard over the weekend to assess the situation, but stress that we must continue to prioritise the safety of our customers and the public." Long traffic queues had earlier built up on the clockwise carriageway between junction nine for Leatherhead and Cobham because of an earlier accident. |
