Huyton blaze: Fire spreads through parade of shops

A large fire spread through a parade of shops on Merseyside overnight leaving it badly damaged.

Firefighters were called to the One Stop supermarket on Hillside Road, Huyton, at about 01:35 BST.

At its height, about 40 firefighters were dealing with the blaze which spread through the parade to a post office, cafe and other shops.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said no injuries have been reported. Hillside Road has been closed.

An investigation into what caused the fire has started.
