Two men charged over Southend child prostitution

Two men have been charged with child prostitution offences after police officers raided an escort agency in Southend, Essex.

Stephen Castle, 39, a computer programmer, and Steven Davis, 53, a car salesman, are also accused of possessing indecent images of children and drugs offences.

The pair were arrested after an investigation into the Southend escort agency Girls4you.com, which launched in 2001. Another 14 individuals were cautioned as part of the investigation by the serious and organised crime unit.

The force said: “Our officers are working closely with charities and experts to support people affected by child prostitution. We would urge anyone who has been a victim of exploitation or has information to contact our serious and organised crime unit on 101. Please quote Operation Cobham when calling.

“Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Anyone who would like support as a result of what they have experienced but does not wish to speak to police can contact the Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90.”

Castle and Davis, from Shoebury in Essex, are due to appear at Basildon magistrates court on 14 May.

Castle is charged with two counts of controlling child prostitution, possession of indecent images of teenage girls, distribution of indecent images, possession of mephedrone with intent to supply and supplying mephedrone.

Davis faces two counts of arranging or facilitating child prostitution, being concerned in the supply of mephedrone, possession of an indecent image of a teenage girl and controlling prostitution for gain.
