A woman has died after the car she was a passenger in crashed in poor weather conditions in Aberdeenshire. | |
The one-vehicle accident happened on an unclassified road between Fyvie and Rothienorman on Friday night. | |
The 20-year-old woman, from Turriff, died after the vehicle left the road and turned over. | |
The 23-year-old male driver and a two-year-old girl, who was also in the car, were uninjured in the incident, which happened at about 2135 GMT. | |
Grampian Police described driving conditions in the area at the time as poor because of snow and ice. | |
Insp Scott Mann said inquiries into the crash were still at an early stage, but added: "The weather was atrocious in the area at the time of the incident and this will be taken into account by our collision investigators. | |
"Whatever the cause may be, a young woman has died tragically tonight and my thoughts are with her family at this sad time." | |
Fire crews from Turriff and Oldmeldrum were called to the scene. |
