Man charged after canvasser 'threatened with fake gun'

Wayne Hudson, 55, of Berwyn Avenue in Hoylake, Merseyside is charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Police said he was bailed to appear before Wirral Magistrates on 30 April. The alleged incident happened when the canvasser was out campaigning for Margaret Greenwood in the Wirral West constituency on Sunday. Candidates standing in the Wirral West constituency (in alphabetical order): Margaret Greenwood (Labour); David James (Independent); Hilary Jones (UKIP); Esther McVey (Conservative); Paul Reisdorf (Liberal Democrat).
