The incident happened at 14:15 on Monday between Almond Court and Stevenson Court in Livingston. The 45-year-old woman was grabbed from behind and pulled to the ground by a man. He then sprayed her in the face with some form of adhesive-type substance that left her vision temporarily impaired. The woman was treated at St John's Hospital and is not expected to suffer any lasting injuries. The attacker had a Glaswegian accent and was wearing a grey top. Officers are now urging anyone who can help with their inquiries to come forward. PC Stuart Ritchie, of Police Scotland, said: "This was a traumatic incident for the victim and her family and we are pursuing all possible lines of inquiry to find the perpetrator. "We have recovered the offending item and are appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time of the incident, to come forward. "Likewise, if you know who this man is, please help us keep people safe and get in touch." |
