Around 70 medical secretaries and clerical staff at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry are taking part in a one-day strike.

They are unhappy about pay and work conditions.

This is the second time the workers have taken action after going on strike last November.

Trade union Nipsa said ongoing negotiations had failed to resolve the issues and workers have been left with no alternative than to strike.

The union has been in talks with the Western Health and Social Care Trust.

Nipsa's Kevin McCabe said: "Despite the union's best efforts to resolve the two key issues that have given rise to the dispute, there has been no satisfactory resolution and further industrial action is now necessary."
