Crane pulls submerged flat-bed truck from River Taff

A flat-bed truck found submerged in the River Taff in Cardiff has been pulled out of the water by a crane.

South Wales Police say the vehicle was spotted in the water at Blackweir in Bute Park at 05:00 BST on Tuesday.

Police and fire crews searched the vehicle in the water and found no passengers inside.

The police are investigating the theft of a truck from Cardiff council's Park department overnight on Monday.

A Cardiff council spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a break-in occurred at the parks depot on Wedal Road in the early hours of this morning and a park vehicle was stolen.

"South Wales Police were informed and are appealing for information."

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the truck being driven in the park at night.

Dominic Pascoe, military fitness instructor, was walking along the riverside path on Tuesday morning when he noticed the vehicle.

He said: "The windows were open and there were waves streaming through the cab."

The truck was lifted out of the river by a crane on Tuesday afternoon.
