Police launch appeal to identify Polish man who cannot remember his own name

Version 0 of 1. Police have launched an appeal to help identify a Polish man who has suffered memory loss, and says he cannot remember his own name. The apparent amnesiac sought help at the Polish Consulate in central London at around 5pm last night, and told staff he could not recall how he had entered the UK, but said he believed he may have travelled via Denmark at some point this week. Due to his lack of memory, he was taken by ambulance to St Thomas’ hospital as a precaution. All the man could remember was that he was born in Poland, maybe from the west-central city of Poznan, and that he has a daughter called Lenka. Police said he is a white man, 5ft 8ins in height of medium build. He has a tattoo of a flower on his right upper arm. The incident comes almost a decade after a man dubbed 'Piano Man' was found walking the streets of Sheerness, Kent, on 7 April 2005, dressed only in a soaking wet suit. He earned his nickname because he was completely mute, and communicated only through keyboard playing and detailed pictures of grand pianos. The man later admitted to mental health medics that he was Andreas Grassi, 20, who had vanished from his home in Bavaria, Germany, the Mirror reported.
