Early Friday, Mr. Zarif was given a hero’s welcome at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran by Iranian reformists.
As Trita Parsi, the founder and president of the National Iranian American Council, noted, in Facebook video of the minister’s motorcade leaving the airport the crowd could be heard chanting “condolences” to enemies of the deal — including both Israel and the hardliners at the Tehran daily Keyhan — and comparing Mr. Zarif to Mohammad Mossadegh, the Iranian prime minister deposed in a C.I.A.-led coup in 1953.
