The couple and two children were found lifeless in a rented apartment in Boschetti's Steps, off Governors Street on the island, the Mirror reported. A statement by the Royal Gibraltar Police force seen by the Mirror states that police attended the residence at around 11:35 this morning. Police who attended the residence at around 11:35 this morning found the bodies of a 31-year-old British man, a 37-year-old Spanish woman, a four-year old girl of Spanish nationality and a six-week-old baby girl.
"Inside the residence officers discovered the lifeless bodies of a 31-year-old man of British nationality, a 37-year-old woman of Spanish nationality, a four-year old girl of Spanish nationality and a baby girl who was six weeks old. Officers have told the El Mundo newspaper that the British man was from Liverpool, while the four-year-old girl was believed to be the woman's daughter from a previous relationship. The baby is believed to have been born in Spain, the newspaper reported.
"It is believed that all the deceased belong to the same family." The family had been living in Spain before recently moving to Gibraltar, according to Spanish media.
A coroner has visited the scene where police are still conducting an investigation. The family's relatives are being sought before their names are publicly released. Detectives and forensic teams, including a coroner, are investigating the flat, which has been cordoned off.
More to follow A spokesman for the Royal Gibraltar Police force said that the deceased are believed to belong to the same family.
He added that officers are working to "establish the cause surrounding the untimely deaths of this young family and are encouraging anyone who maybe able to support the investigation to contact the duty officer of the Royal Gibraltar Police."
"Presently, we are not looking for anyone involved in this very unfortunate event, but the investigation will be thorough and detailed drawing in on the expertise of other professionals," he said.
The family's relatives are being sought before their names are publicly released, he added.
