Police said inquiries into the incident, which happened at 2100 GMT, are continuing. Police believe the incident could be linked to reports that shots were fired in the area on Friday.
Armed response Two men were seen running away from the shop after the shooting, which left the 18-year-old with bullet wounds to his stomach and torso and the 16-year-old with chest, shoulder and leg injuries.
A Greater Manchester police spokesman said: "Officers from the Armed Response Unit attended and discovered an 18-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his stomach and torso and a 16 -year-old boy with gunshot wounds to his chest, shoulder and leg.
"Both are being treated in hospital where they remain in a critical condition.
"Shots were fired in the betting shop and two men were seen to run away."

Divisional Commander Ch Supt David Anthony said: "I am appealing directly to anyone who was in the bookmakers last night, especially between 2000 GMT and 2100 GMT or anyone who may know anything about shots being fired in the area on Friday to contact police."
